Journey to the Underworld
9/30/16 After School
Journey is an opportunity to introduce new arrivals in the club with a gentle welcome. As a bonding event, everybody gets a chance to show freshmen that JCL is all about: fun, community, and respect. But in this instance, it was mostly just about the fun!
A yearly tradition that's always a blast, Journey to the Underworld marks the start of this year's JCL festivities. Held on September 30th this year on the Mons Latina (Latin Hill), it really was a great opportunity to meet with new and returning JCL buddies.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our first event of the year a success! Pictures from journey can be found on our JCL Historians' flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/133284139@N05/albums/72157671197395644

SCRAM
11/21/15 7:30AM-3:30PM, University High School
SCRAM, or Southern California Regional Amici Madness, took place at University High School this year. A more local version of the state convention later in the year, we spend the day there competing in sports and academic competitions, with craft projects, and more sprinkled in between. We started off the day with our opening ceremony and headed into academic testing. After we had academic testing, we had tons of fun-filled activities like the Roman Speed Dating, Carnival, and Cookie Decorating. We also had more Latin-filled events like Open Certamen, a team competition, and Latin Oratory.
We were very excited to run this event for the first time in years and we hope you enjoyed attending as much as we enjoyed hosting!

Journey to the Underworld
10/03/15 After School
Journey is an opportunity to introduce new arrivals in the club with a gentle welcome. As a bonding event, everybody gets a chance to show freshmen that JCL is all about: fun, community, and respect. But in this instance, it's mostly just about the fun!
After the initial show of 'hospitality', all members alike can feast on hot dogs, chips, soda, and even candy from a pinata. The night comes to a close with various movie showings, hand-picked by your very own movie connoisseurs: Mr. Davis, Mr. Michalak and your JCL board.
A yearly tradition that's always a blast, Journey to the Underworld marks the start of a year's worth of JCL festivities. Held on October 3rd on the Mons Latina (Latin Hill), it really is a great opportunity to meet with your new and returning JCL buddies. Entertainment is even provided for all the new-comers... Just don't forget that quarter for Cerberus!

Week of 3rd (55/65)

California State Convention
4/4/14-4/5/14 University High School
Similar to SCRAM but on a larger scale, we be hosting the Convention this year at University High School on April 4th-5th, 2014 for the 59th State Convention. There are more competitions, more games, more tests, and more opportunities to show why our club is far superior to other schools. Of course, don't be mistaken. It's all done in fun and it’s a chance to meet new friends who were also smart enough to take latin and take a part of JCL! It just so happens that our school is always the best.
